We Don’t Need to Whisper is the debut album by Angels & Airwaves. It was released on May 20, 2006 in Australia, on May 22 in the UK, and on May 23 in North America.
The album drew mixed reactions from critics, with a Metacritic average of 53 and received a nomination for the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist, but lost to Avenged Sevenfold.
We Don’t Need to Whisper was certified Gold in Canada (50,000 copies) in 3 days. It was certified Silver in the UK (60,000 copies) and sold over 127,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. A large number of fans pre-ordered the album, which greatly increased the debut sales.
As of August 16, 2008, the album has sold over 550,000 copies in the US alone. As of July 2007, it has sold over 800,000 copies worldwide.
Reviews for the album have been mixed. The album is considered a concept album due to that fact that all the songs are part of the same story, revolving around the idea of finding love in the middle of a war zone. The next album, I-Empire, is said to be the continuation of this idea.
Production
The roots of the album can be traced back to Blink-182 writing sessions that began on tour in 2004, in preparation for a new Blink-182 album. When Tom DeLonge departed Blink-182 in February 2005, he used some of these demos as foundations for Angels & Airwaves songs.
For the rest of 2005, Tom and his new bandmates wrote and recorded all of the songs on this album at his home studio.

It was officially released worldwide on November 6, 2007 from the Angels & Airwaves website, where it was available for download. Production
Angels & Airwaves started work on I-Empire in the beginning of 2007. It was the first album ever recorded at Jupiter Sound (Macbeth’s studio).
On May 20, 2007, in an interview with Alternative Radio, the band said that the album was 60-70% complete and that the record would be out in October or November 2007. DeLonge also stated that the album would continue the element of the first album, but “times ten” and that in a story, I-Empire would follow We Don’t Need to Whisper; We Don’t Need to Whisper being a “re-birth” of life, and I-Empire being an album about what you do after the re-birth.
On May 30, 2007, DeLonge stated in an interview with Kerrang! that the new album would be named I-Empire and “this is as exciting as rock ‘n’ roll gets!”
On July 29, 2007, as a part of the ‘Everybody Hurts’ tour, Angels & Airwaves played 4 new songs from I-Empire for their fans. The songs played were “Secret Crowds”, “Sirens”, “Lifeline”, and “Everything’s Magic”, along with live acoustic performances of “Everything’s Magic”, “The Gift”, “Good Day”, “Do It for Me Now”, and “The Adventure”. These songs were all recorded and leaked onto the internet, giving fans their first glimpse of I-Empire, along with the acoustic set.

Love is the third studio album by alternative rock band Angels & Airwaves. It was released on February 12, 2010 on Fuel TV, and on February 14 on Modlife. The album was released free of charge due to “corporate underwriting”. A “special edition” hard copy version of the album is scheduled for release in the near future.
According to vocalist and guitarist Tom DeLonge the album was downloaded “300,000 times during the first 48 hours after its Valentine’s Day release.”
In May 2009, it was announced that the album would be released on Christmas Day. However, on July 19, 2009, DeLonge announced via Modlife that the album will not be released on Christmas day as previously planned, and instead will be released on Valentine’s Day. The album was released free of charge through Modlife on Valentine’s Day 2010.
The free download of the album contains eleven tracks, but a physical copy of the album is also going to be released which will contain the same eleven tracks along with 30 minutes of extra music from the Love movie. The extra music will all flow together. The first single from the album, “Hallucinations” was released free of charge on December 23, 2009. Tom Delonge has said that there is a music video in the works for the song.
Angels & Airwaves released the album an hour and a half early via their Modlife page at 4:30 PM Pacific Time to their premium members and Fuel TV subsequently released it at 6 PM Pacific Time on February 12th. free of charge. Furthermore, a remix of Hallucinations by Mark Hoppus became available to all of those who donate money when downloading Love from Modlife.
Angels & Airwaves partnered with many companies with the release of the album, in an attempt to reach as many people as possible. Fuel TV, Loserkids.com and ONE are just some of the organizations that have helped the band release the record through links featured on their websites and through emails sent to the subscribers of their mailing lists.
Production
The album began production in January 2009, after touring with Weezer in the fall of 2008. Production went very slowly as DeLonge was away on tour with Blink-182. DeLonge has compared the album’s space rock influenced sound to that of U2 and Pink Floyd.
On their Facebook page, the band stated that on 4 January they returned to the studio to put the finishing touches to the Love album in time for the February 14 release.
On January 12, 2010, the band released a promotional video entitled “C:\Transmission_Love”, which contained a short preview of The Flight Of Apollo.
