Blink to head into the studio in August?

blink182pointoh

In an interview with Billboard yesterday, Mark discussed his involvement with scoring the upcoming short film titled “I’m Scared”. Toward the end of the interview, a small paragraph stated the following:

In the meantime, Hoppus continues with Blink-182. He said the threesome — with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba replacing guitarist Tom DeLonge — will head back into the studio in August.

Last we heard, Skiba was open to joining the band, but nothing had been planned as Mark and Travis still had to sort out the legality of moving forward without Tom. There’s still no word on the status of that, but it does appear Matt is now an official member and the three of them will begin work on an album very soon!

Blink Rehearsals Underway

Mark posted this image on his Instagram captioned “blink-182 rehearsals”. The band is having it’s first rehearsals with Matt Skiba taking place of Tom Delonge for their upcoming shows at Musink.

Mark and Travis Break Silence: “Tom. Is. Out.”

From an article on Rolling Stone:

Earlier today, Blink-182 members Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker released a statement noting that founding member Tom DeLonge had “indefinitely” left the band and that Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba would replace the singer-guitarist for the band’s upcoming set at Musink Festival. DeLonge countered shortly after, posting on his Instagram, “I never quit the band,” calling the press release “weird” and questioning its legitimacy. In an exclusive, candid interview with Rolling Stone, Hoppus and Barker set the record straight on the band’s inner turmoils, album delays and ongoing frustrations.

Tom Delonge Still in blink-182?

Lots of confusion going on at the moment. Earlier a Rolling Stone article was released stating Tom Delonge had left blink indefinitely. Mark only tweeted “Blink-182 life. For life.”

All seemed certain until Tom posted on Instagram:

“To all the fans, I never quit the band. I actually was on a phone call about a blink 182 event for New York City at the time all these weird press releases started coming in… Apparently those releases were ‘sanctioned’ from the band. Are we dysfunctional- yes. But, Christ…..”

It seems as though Matt Skiba will only be filling in for blink’s upcoming shows, and Tom is still with the band. No official clarification has been made at the moment but we’ll update as soon as there is.
